The buttoning question - Men and their Suits
Dear Men, When wearing a suit, it helps to keep in mind the following points depending on how many buttons your jacket has:
3/4 - Three/four button jacket: When wearing a three/ four button jacket, the middle buttons have to be buttoned. The first may or may not be, depending on your choice and comfort. This looks best on taller men.
2 - Two button jacket: A two button jacket is a common style amongst suits and complements most men. In this case, only the top button needs to be buttoned.
1 - One button jacket: When left with just one button, keep it buttoned up when standing. A one button jacket looks appealing on leaner men.
I like how the Art of Manliness puts it. Click here to read their 'Sometimes, always, never' post.
All references here are made to single breasted jackets. In all cases including that when wearing a vest, the last button/bottom most button should not be buttoned. And don't forget to unbutton your suit when being seated. Why? If not, your fabric will gather forming unpleasant lines calling for unwanted attention in the wrong place. My husband looks awesome here, doesn't he? <3
